To: YOU, the ideal girl

Hey you!

I really hope your’e out there.

I swear there are guys out here in the world who still wish that the princess who will make them turn into a prince from an ugly frog IS out there. Turning them from the hideous abominations that they are and into a handsome prince. Or simply just the right girl to come along.

I do hope that when I meet you it will be better than any romance novel I’ve read. I keep hearing stories of old couples saying that their spouses are their best friend and I know you will be and everything will be magical. 

In video games when we were kids, it was always a story of how to get you to fall for me. Or how to save you from the Bowser or Donkey Kong watching you.( Does this mean that videogames are teaching us to steal another guys girl? ) It always was helping her and making her fall for me but in a world like ours now I highly feel that whatever stage or level we are in now the REST OF THE WORLD is on godmode and we cannot ever save our princess.

Maybe the idea of you existing grew stronger in high school. The girl who you chose to start the prom with as your first dance and the same girl you marked and told all the guys in the room that “she will be my last dance of the night”. The same girl who you still have a picture of in your time capsule which is just inside the anaconda infested closet you have. The girl who was part of that sepia toned chapter of your life framed in your forever.

A few battle scars and burns on the side and twenty years of experience on me and I’m still the hopeless romantic hoping for that princess to change me. and I still seem to wonder if she got lost on the way. But what truly keeps me hoping that she is still out there is the hope that when I meet her someday all the comic books and video games wouldn’t matter anymore— my life would be incomparably better than any of them.

I may know you now, or have yet to meet you. but when it happens all the restarts and gameovers and heartbreak would be ALL WORTH IT
